Michal McClure

After completing his formal education, Michal McClure pursued a business career working as a management consultant, investment banker, and entrepreneur. Although in his youth he loved photography, it was not until he left the business world that he was able to follow his passion for capturing cultures, nature and people through the lens of his camera. During these photographic pursuits he studied with acclaimed documentary photographer Mary Ellen Mark, in New York and Mexico.

McClure is the author and photographer of the books Hawaiian Cowboys – A Photographic Journal and Cuba: Awakening From the Past. His stories and photographs have appeared in a number of American and Canadian publications, and in exhibits in Santa Fe, Oaxaca, Honolulu, Carmel, California, and the National Museum of Wildlife Art in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

He and his wife, Ilse, live in Carmel, California.

His appreciation for nature along with his curiosity has creatively assisted him finding those unique pictures when he is in the field. His desire to explore new cultures and landscapes have lead him around the world traveling to places such as Germany, Croatia, Namibia, India, Vietnam, Nepal, and Chile.

In addition to having his photos in the book Hawaiian Cowboys, Chris’ photos can be seen in Forbes Life Magazine, Parker Ranch Annual Reports and are featured on Hawaiian postcards.
